Anant Pai, a giant among Indian comics publishers, started Amar Chitra Katha, mythologizing history and historcizing mythology, mostly Hindu mythology. One of the weirdest artifacts in Indian comics, going by the first critical book on Indian comics, 'The Classic Popular: Amar Chitra Katha- 1967-2007', by Nandini Chandra, released in 2008.

I met Junji Ito sensei in Septmeber 2007 at his home in a beautiful small town in Gifu prefecture. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the place :( I must have written it down somewhere...)
